Smart Subtitles for Kannada
On the board and up for a vote. Every vote moves it up the list.
Watching a Kannada video with Smart Subtitles on, the words worth learning first stand out. An underline shows how common each word is, the word being spoken lights up as you go, and a tap tells you what it means in that exact sentence. It's the same layer learners of Spanish, Korean or Arabic already have under their videos, on Kannada.
We noticed that the Indian languages on Reelang, Hindi, Bangla, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, came with real videos and level grading from day one, but their subtitles are plain text. Every script has its own rules for where one word ends and the next begins, and the smart layer has to get that right before it can pick anything out, so we take these languages one at a time.
Votes are how this climbs the list, and we read every one.
